How to choose a metal for your dog’s ID tag

WHICH COMBINATION OF METALS ARE BEST FOR FABU DOG TAGS?

For the best durability, a nickel silver dog bone on a brass base – as shown in this photo – would be a great choice.

Copper is a softer metal and while it makes a pretty combination, it will show dings faster if it is hanging off of a collar with other tags. Copper also darkens from oxidation more quickly than brass and silver.

Durability is a factor to consider when thinking about a new ID tag for your dog. Don’t forget that any metal tag is going to show wear and tear when it is hanging on a collar with other tags. They will bounce and jingle together, which makes it easy to hear your dog coming. The flip side of this is that the life of the dog tag is shortened by continuous friction. But that’s ok – you can always have another one made by @fabupetdesigns!
